The Strike Committee at the occupied Maclaren Controis factory in Glasgow has written to shop stewards committees in 51 other ITT subsidTaries throughout Britain calling for a meeting to discuss the formation of a Combine Committee. Support for this has already been pledgod by dectricians in the STC factory in East Kilbride, and support is expected from other STC factories. The Strike Committee is also organising a public meeting in Glasgow to explain their fight and win support.

The setting up of a Combine Committee would be an importaat step forward, but it will be difficult, as is always the case when such initialives arise from a redundancy struggle. The effectiveness of the blacking action, which forms an important part of the Strike Committee'sstrategy, depends on action against work being done on Maclaren's contract. This mcans contacting workers in factories which ure being supplied with this equipment.

The decision of the AUEW to organise an over time ban in the distant future, ratber than a strike now, in connection with the national pay claim, means that there is a serious danger that the Maclaren's workers will become iso lated in their struggle. It is imporiant that support for this milttant strugple is increased.
