Uncorrected machine reading. This text was read by machine (Apple Vision OCR) from a scan of a newspaper page, and the page was cut into articles by machine, at the headlines found by their type size. Nothing has been corrected: expect misread words, text from a neighbouring article, and titles that are the machine reading of the headline, some of them only fragments. The enforced dismissal from the industrial and on the masses, to a decline in initiative and cultural spheres of large numbers of qualified people who have expressed and continue to express a different opinion from the leadership is causing and will continue to cause immense mage. I think that the working class and its ading role has been morally affected, 1 should like to be mistaken when I say that the working cast, as the most important component and nottinal bearer of power in a socialist state, lech that it is being thoroughly manipulated. It Bas been deprived of what it regarded as progres uve and has had a different conception forced pon it. Worker participation in public affairs and state administration has been reduced to a Linimum insofar as it exists at all.

In my view the most serious consequences of the present policy is the fact that the people have been deprived of the possibality of discurting party policy withour fear, te freely, and thus of making decisions about matters affecting society.

I refute the thesis that 'socialism can he overthrown by unperialist bourgeois propaganda. The latter can merely exploit mistakes and detciencies in the socialist countries. Such propaganda can be delested only by overcoming the causes of the shortcomings it exploits. The above thesis is harmtul for it deflects the atten ton of the Party and the socialist state from the solution of their own shortcomings, mistakes and distortions, and from the internal causes thercof, which are the major and decisive ones.
