Uncorrected machine reading. This text was read by machine (Apple Vision OCR) from a scan of a newspaper page, and the page was cut into articles by machine, at the headlines found by their type size. Nothing has been corrected: expect misread words, text from a neighbouring article, and titles that are the machine reading of the headline, some of them only fragments. Quote from the scan, not from this page.
How this article was cut and titled: headline found by type size in the OCR geometry (split_tabloid.py); 1-1 of 4; machine-segmented newspaper page; uncorrected Vision OCR.

The local government of Baden-Wurtemberg in Germany has banned the Heidelberg SDS. The national organisation, once the vanguard of the European movement dissolved itself in March this year. But the local Heidelberg group survived on a solid basis of support.
The actions of the Heidelberg SDS culminated in a raging battle of 1000 demonstrators fighting 600 police outside a conference on international development held in the town on June 19. The presence of Robert MacNamara and the discussion of aid for the Portuguese Imperialism's projected Cabora Bassa dam in Mozambique, were the main provocations which sparked the demonstration off.
The authorities responded by implementing the ban which is the first time that West Germany's dictatorial constitution has been since the German Communist Party was banned in 1956.
